It's almost over.....

I've been told by several friends that I need to update my journal.(I don't know why it's ONLY 6 months old).The problem is this, TIME.
  While elections, and inaugurations may be exciting for most of the country, for those of us who work in Wash.D.C. it's a tremendous hassle. Believe me, just try running a communications company the week before inauguration day. The "glamor" dies off quickly when you're standing on the roof of a building in high winds, and below freezing temps, overseeing crews placing microwave feeds, and cable downlinks ( which will all be taken down again next week).
Oh,well. One more week and it will be over.(maybe I'll have a little more time to catch up).

100th Deviation!!!

I thought for my 100th, I'd do something a little special. My work has been a little dark lately, so I thought a do something Completely different and positive.
I also wanted it to feature Bradley ( Who's been waiting patiently for his feature while his sister has been featured twice)
and to be released just before his first day of school.

This is also a 2 fer, answering 2 challenges at once ( Bradley is talented that way).Below is a picture of Bradley and Miranda with their father, on the set(LOL) of Rainbow Connection.





Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers, and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that, and someone believed it,
and look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing
and what do we think we might see?

....and the amazing? rescue...

a pair of hummingbirds got into my garage yesterday at sunset.They were buzzing around the lights like they were moths.

I turned out the lights, and shooed them outside (it was still light outside).
    About 20 minutes later, I found one of them, ( a beautiful emerald hummingbird) back in the garage, after the lights again. By this time it was dark outside, and turning off the lights only added to the little guy's confusion.
    Exhausted, He finally flew into a small contaner on a high shelf, and refused to leave. Having no choice, I climed up, picked up the container and took him outside.

Still He wouldn't leave! Realizing He was in shock, I gently lifted him out, and held him in my open hand until the fresh air revived him, and He flew off to his nest.

Note: happy ending, no birds, or photographers suffered any permanent injuries during the insuing mayhem......

....Beats a good day working.

I TOOK A DAY OFF ! ( the first since January ), and took my father fishing. The weather was perfect - sunny, clear, temps in the high eighties (rare for this time of year ). The fishing was great, and we felt so good, we let them all go ( burgers for dinner, oh well )
   Here are some pics of the water, and pop with a trophy white perch:
